Malthusian

I would first like to address how terrifying the thought of this is. I hear people talking/joking about the day this planet will become overpopulated in my lifetime and after a few moments the topic is gone and everyone is on their merry way as if the conversation never happened. After doing the reading and then doing some of my own digging it’s even MORE terrifying knowing that there is actually a name for what people tend to joke about way too much. As for sexual restraints? Yes! It very well is possible that we will overpopulate the earth sometime very soon. It’s such a difficult subject though because it conflicts with religion, and natural rights given to the people in the United States constitution. I also feel that sex is a subject that many adults don’t address to young adults in the proper way. I recall being in sex ed in high school, having a teacher teach us about reproductive organs, how they work, etc and then immediately proceeding to tell us to not have sex. Why not educate to do so safely? Anyway, that’s going in to a topic not related to economics.

But, one of my favorite series that I read in 6th grade called The Shadow Children by Margaret Peterson Haddix describes a world run by Malthusian down to details.

Maybe one day this won’t be fiction after all :|

I remember reading this book series when I was younger! It truly is a scary thing to think about, yet people aren’t as worried about it as they should be.
