From Maddison Book: A resurgent country

According to Maddison book, I learnt how countries like China made significant progress from 1300 to 1850. In this period, the population grew faster than in Western Europe, but per-capita remained intact. I also learnt that before 1350, the level of GDP per Capita of China was above the level of Western Europe. This Per Capita GDP remained good until foreign invasions and others reasons impacted negatively. I knew that Around 1850, European per Capita levels were ten times higher than the Chinese level. Since 1978 China’s economy has started to catch-up. Today we know the important place of Chinese economy in the globalization.
